some more beautiful music

Pat Metheny is a master on the guitar. Anna Maria Jopek is a wonderful Polish singer. Here's a video of a live performance in Warsaw from 2002.

I came across the video after reading about a signature model guitar that Linda Manzer is releasing. It sounds great and looks pretty cool but the price is... a bit high at $32,000.

this is another guitar that she built for Metheny...

and a video of it...

It's amazing how some voices transcend language.

A couple of years ago, we hosted a small African singing group. One girl sang a song that was her testimony, in Swahili. Funny thing is, we all understood her perfectly. (I wonder if that was the way people felt at Pentecost.)

Matheney is amazing, whether playing six strings or forty-two. But that Pikasso is sick!

Beautiful.

I do like Methany when he plays acoustic and no doubt these instruments contribute a lot to his sound. My favourite recording of his is One Quiet Night Alone, where he plays a Manzer Baritone. It's an album every guitarist should own.

The first sounds like a soundtrack from a European art film. Beautiful voice, quickly forgotten track.

The second :( Sprong, scrang, plinky plonky plooo scroingg. Many too many strings and all in more-or-less tune with each other. VERY clever to play it, but frankly I'd rather he had a proper guitar and worked with another guitarist and a harp player.

Good videos. Thanks for turning me on to those.
