Now that the McCain campaign is making such a big deal about sex education, it is important to think about it in a rational way. Al Franken likes to say that abstinence only education works... until it doesn't.
Well, here's the proof...

LOL! Maybe he doesn't realize that Bristol's baby hasn't been born yet. Hahaha...I could say more, but I'm going to bite my tongue.
Bristol's pregnant? was it by immaculate conception?
Why is abstinance such a dirty word? Is it because in this age of instant gratification and selfishness it's become just too inconvenient? I have 3 young men that I've raised as far as I can, and although I know I can't force my views on them, I hope that they think twice before throwing caution to the wind and ending up in a situation that changes their lives (not necessarily for the better) forever.
By the way, I still check in with them about the subject. They're single and never too old to be reminded. And we're fortunate enough to have built a relationship where this kind of discussion can occur.
Hey Jane. Abstinence is not a dirty word. It is a great word... as long as it isn't the only word. We all want our kids to abstain until they're old enough to make decisions regarding sex that are appropriate for their age and to the depth of their relationships. Still, in spite of our best efforts, some kids will have sex. Even some good kids will have sex (I'm assuming that Bristol Palin is a good kid). It is irresponsible to not equip them with the info they need to help avoid pregnancy and STMs. If either of my kids had sex while teenagers, I hope they knew how to use condoms and did.
